Is it really Spring? Cloudy and rainy in the south, snow all over the ground in the northeast. It can only get better.
Today on “Great Soul Performances” I’m going to begin something very special for me. I’m presenting; in monthly installments, an interview I did on WCBS-FM in the “Hall of Fame” with the late Brook Benton. Brook was a dear friend to me. I MC’d for him on several occasions and we had planned to record together. We were going to do an album; which Brook was writing and the late Eric Gale was to be guitarist on, that would be a combination singing and spoken word project. Guess what part I was doing. Unfortunately, Brook passed away on April 9, 1988 before we could get into the studio and get it done. I reached down into the archive and pulled out this interview that we did on September 17, 1987 and I’m proud to present it to you starting today and every month throughout the rest of the year.
Brook Benton was such a prolific singer, songwriter, producer and performer, that should not be forgotten. He should be remembered and revered. He’s got great stories to tell. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
Also on the program you’ll hear: Al Green, the Chi-Lites, Jackie Moore, Love Unlimited, the Temptations, Curtis Mayfield, the Manhattans, the Four Tops, Louis Williams & the Ovations, the Ramsey Lewis Trio; “live in concert” and more. It jumps off at 7PM EDT, 6PM CDT, 5PM MDT, & 4PM PDT, following an encore of “Great Soul Performances 2: The 80’s” at 5PM EDT. As you see, a full plate today, so join me for the fun on RadioMaxMusic.com.
