Thursday 7/21/22 10pm ET: Feature LP: Poison – Open Up and Say… Ahh! (1988)

Open Up and Say… Ahh! is the second studio album by American glam metal band Poison, released May 3, 1988 through Enigma Records. It proved to be the band’s most successful release, and spawned four hit singles: “Nothin’ but a Good Time”, “Fallen Angel”, “Your Mama Don’t Dance” (a Loggins and Messina cover) and their only #1 single to date, “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”. The album peaked at #2 on the US Billboard 200.

Open Up And Say Ahh was certified platinum in 1988 and 5× platinum in 1991 by the RIAA.[ It also has been certified 4× platinum in Canada and gold by the BPI.

Poison is an American glam metal band formed in 1983, in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The most successful incarnation of the band consists of lead singer and rhythm guitarist Bret Michaels, drummer Rikki Rockett, bassist and pianist Bobby Dall, and lead guitarist and backing vocalist C.C. DeVille. The band achieved commercial success in the mid-1980s through the mid-1990s and has sold 15 million records in the United States and over 50 million albums worldwide.

Sunday 1/2/22 11pm ET: Feature LP: Poison’s Greatest Hits: (1986-1996)

Poison’s Greatest Hits: 1986–1996 is the first greatest hits compilation CD from the glam metal band Poison. The album was released on November 26, 1996 by Capitol Records. Blues Saraceno replaced Richie Kotzen as lead guitarist after the last album Native Tongue and The Greatest Hits features two bonus new tracks with Blues Saraceno on lead guitar: “Lay Your Body Down” and “Sexual Thing”.

The compilation charted at number 2 on The Top Catalog Albums chart and includes most of Poison’s hit singles which all charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and Mainstream rock charts. The compilation was certified Gold in 1999 and by 2005 the album had gone double platinum. It was also certified CAN gold.
