We are wrapping up Christmas week, and heading into the new year of 2019 this evening on “Great Soul Performances,” with leftover Christmas songs and other songs of the season, with our “New Year’s Eve” show where you’ll hear from: Lou Rawls, Charles Brown, the Manhattan Transfer, Nat “King” Cole, the Manhattans, Aretha Franklin, Earth, Wind & Fire, Chuck Jackson, Aaron Neville, the Shirelles, the Glows (aka Joel & the Dymensions featuring Joel Katz, Eugene Pitt and yours truly), the Heartbeats, Darlene Love, Sonny Til & the Orioles, Bobby Darin and so much more. Therefore this evening on “Great Soul Performances” it’s gonna me “Summer Songs” with a sprinkling of songs about Rio de Janeiro and Brazil, as our USA Olympic team continues to dominate. We’ve got artists like: Sly & the Family Stone, Sam Cooke, the Chantels; with and without Richard Barrett, Donald Byrd & the Blackbyrds, Little Anthony & the Imperials, the Jamies, Nat “King” Cole, Larry Chance & the Earls, Barry White, the Two Step Orchestra, Jimmy Ricks & the Ravens, George Benson; live in concert, and a medley I put together of “The Girl From Ipanema” featuring: Astrud Gilberto & Stan Getz, Frank Sinatra, Amy Winehouse, Lou Rawls, my cousin Gloria Nazzaro, Sammy Davis, Jr., Dionne Warwick, Nat “King” Cole, Diana Krall, and Andy Williams. This year though, I’ll be playing a lot of songs that I haven’t for you before, or songs that I haven’t played in several years. So, on Santa’s list will be artists (or elves) such as: Sam Cooke, of course, Nat “King” Cole, Johnny Otis with Little Esther & Mel Walker, Joe Tex, the Moonglows, the Supremes, Charles Brown, Freddie King, the O’Jays, James Brown, Pearl Bailey, Louis Jordan, a selection from Kid Kyle and yours truly, plus a couple of tracks from the brand new Christmas CD by the Coasters called, “Christmas With the Coasters,” Darlene Love; live in concert, and a sleigh full of other holiday treats. Santa, Rudolph and the other Reindeer, will be leading the charge at 7PM ET, 6PM CT, 5PM MT & 4PM PT, coming down the chimney at RadioMaxMusic.Com.

Programming Note: Tomorrow on “Great Soul Performances 2: The 80s,” it’ll be day 2 of our Christmas show, will all those holiday songs from the 1980’s.
