Walking Wounded is the ninth studio album by British musical duo Everything but the Girl. It was released on May 6, 1996 by Atlantic Records in the United States and Virgin Records in Europe. The album saw the group adopting a more electronic and dance-based style, following the success of the remixed version of “Missing” from their previous album, Amplified Heart.

Four tracks from the album were released as singles, including the drum and bass-influenced “Walking Wounded” and the house-influenced “Wrong”, which became top ten hits on the UK Singles Chart, as well as the downtempo track “Single”, which set Tracey Thorn’s emotionally direct vocal against breakbeats, organ and strings, and “Before Today”.

Walking Wounded was reissued by Edsel Records as a two-disc deluxe set on September 4, 2015. On November 8, 2019, the album was re-released on vinyl by Buzzin’ Fly Records.

Amplified Heart is the eighth studio album by British musical duo Everything but the Girl. It was released on June 13, 1994 by Atlantic Records in the United States and Canada, and elsewhere by Blanco y Negro Records. The album was recorded and mixed in London from winter 1993 to 1994.

Primarily an acoustic-driven set, Amplified Heart brought Everything but the Girl to mainstream audiences via the dance remix of the song “Missing”. Ultimately peaking at number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in early 1996, “Missing” spent more than a year gaining airplay and exposing Everything but the Girl to US and worldwide audiences, leading Amplified Heart to sell upwards of 232,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen Sound Scan. It went on to sell over 1,000,000 copies worldwide.

Amplified Heart was reissued in 2012 by Edsel Records as a two-disc deluxe set.

On May 16, 2019, the band’s Twitter account announced a special 25th anniversary pressing of the album on vinyl. Set to be released July 5, 2019, it marks the album’s debut in the vinyl format. Everything but the Girl (sometimes referred to as EBTG) were an English musical duo, formed in Hull in 1982, consisting of lead singer and occasional guitarist Tracey Thorn and guitarist, keyboardist, producer and singer Ben Watt. Everything but the Girl have received eight gold and two platinum album BPI Certifications in the UK, and one gold album RIAA Certification in the US. They had four top ten singles and twelve top forty singles in the UK. Their biggest hit song “Missing” charted high in several countries and reached number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1995 and spent over seven months on the UK Singles Chart thanks to an extremely popular remix by Todd Terry which later led to a Brit Award nomination for Best British Single.

The duo have also been nominated for MTV, EMA and Ivor Novello Awards and received an award from the BMI for sales of over 3 million in the UK alone.

They are currently inactive, although vocalist Tracey Thorn hinted that they may perform again someday. They have not performed publicly since 2000.

Watt and Thorn are also a couple, though they are very private about their relationship and personal life. For some time, it was not a publicised fact that they were romantically involved, or that they had married subsequently.
